It always seems to spread like wildfire when stuff goes down at a concert. Normally because a video goes viral, and this can be for positive and negative reasons. Sometimes I find myself locked into YouTube watching various videos from fighting the audience to checking a fan is okay. I find them pretty intriguing, and after recent events I thought I’d write down some of the times I found to be most interesting when a band has stopped a show.
Disclaimer: I’d like to point out that I do not dislike any of the bands on this list. I’m not hating on the bands, or even their actions. I think some of them are dumb, but no hard feelings are given in the making of this post.
Black Veil Brides
I’m going to throw it out there, I am a fan of Black Veil Brides. I enjoy their music, and thought they put on a good set at Download Festival 2016. I’ve watched interviews that I found funny, and I like their style. However, the thing I dislike about them, is the way that Andy Biersack stands up to haters during shows. This instance in Vancouver in particular. It’s pretty inevitable that bottles will be thrown during their set, whether they’re supporting a bigger band or playing a festival. For some reason people watch them, just to hate on them. There’s numerous different videos on YouTube of him attempting to fight hecklers, and at this point you’d think it would be a ‘rise above’ situation but apparently not, as Andy even puffed out his chest when I saw them at Download, when a drink was thrown on stage. The things I don’t like about this video:
- Stopping the show for the rest of the fans, just because of one person. Get security to remove them and carry on.
- Throwing things into the crowd. A mic to the head would probably hurt and unless he has great aim, he’d probably hit a fan instead.
- Jumping into the crowd to get physical just makes you look like a drunken person in a nightclub. Also watch the fans that are getting pushed around because of it.
- The audience cheering him on, super cringe.
Falling In Reverse
Five Finger Death Punch
Remember, it’s not all doom and gloom. Concerts generally go off without a hitch and everyone has a great time. Multiple bands have paused shows to help injured fans including Bring Me The Horizon, Linkin Park, Corey Taylor, and even Bury Tomorrow when I saw them in Cardiff.
Let me know your thoughts on these videos in the comments, and if you have more to add leave a link so I can check them out! Thank you for reading, April.
